On July 11, 2009, a Governors Proclamation was issued declaring the day to be Northwood Meadows Discovery Day.
This event was the first of its kind and attracted 350-400 people. Visitors learned about the history of the park as well as local collaboration efforts currently underway.
NALMC partnered with NH Fish & Game, NH Department of Resources and Economic Development, University of NH, Town of Northwood, Coe-Brown Northwood Academy, Northwood Crankpullers (snowmobile club), Lions Club, NH Department of Environmental Services, and Project Learning Tree among others. We gathered to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Northwood Meadows State Park and Ed Burtt, the creator of the park. This event gave NALMC the chance to highlight the value of collaboration between neighbors, both public and private.
NALMC’s collaborative stewardship activities earned special recognition from Bear-Paw Regional Greenways, the group’s fiscal agent and local Land Trust, for “building a successful conservation ethic in our region.”
